Seth M. Boyer was a loving son, brother, fiancé, nephew, and grandson who lived life to the fullest. A kind and compassionate person, Seth was passionate about many things, including his family and fiancé, traveling, superheroes, living a healthy lifestyle, as well as lifelong learning. A wonderfully gifted child who excelled academically, this held true through his life into his collegiate career at the University of Michigan where we served as Vice President of the Delta Chi fraternity. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, as well as a master’s degree in Physiology at U of M, with a 4.0 GPA. An amazing scientist, U of M has since named an annual award in Seth’s honor to recognize outstanding science students.
As disciplined in his exercise routine as he was with his studies, Seth rarely missed a workout. He also never lost his love for superheroes, having watched all of the Marvel movies. Even in his darkest days, when he was well enough, he often opted to watch his Marvel favorites. He also enjoyed boating, the beach, a nice cold beer, his dog Duke, and conversations with his favorite people. Our promise to Seth is that his suffering will not be in vain and that his memory will live on. The foundation named in his honor serves the purpose of funding further research, and ultimately a cure for Glioblastoma, a terrible disease that has claimed the lives of so many people. Seth is still, and always will be, our superhero.
